Quality

POLICY STATEMENT

The policy of William White Meats is to provide the highest quality service to our customers, ensuring a consistently high standard of safe product, with timely delivery and competitive pricing at all times.

OVERVIEW OF THE QUALITY SYSTEM

The company is committed to food quality and safety and has therefore defined and documented policies and objectives based on HACCP principles to ensure that these requirements are adequately met.

A Policy Statement has been published and communicated to the work force. This policy is implemented through a Quality Assurance Policy which:

a) Identifies management representatives.

b) Defines responsibility, authority and inter-relationships.

c) Provides the means by which the company’s objectives shall be acheived.

We consider the pursuit of these objectives essential to the long-term growth and survival of our business. 

In order that the Quality Assurance Policy operates to its full potential, all of our employees are required to become familiar with, contribute to and understand those parts of the Policy affecting their work.

The company has established procedures, instructions and associated documentation within the Policy which ensure that processes conform to specified requirements and all current relevant legislation.

The Policy is designed to provide objective evidence which demonstrates that all of our activities are monitored and to ensure absolute customer satisfaction.

It is recognised that the Quality Assurance Policy requires the total support of management and its effectiveness depends upon the commitment of everybody in the organisation.

The company have decided that the overall responsibility and authority for all quality assurance systems and the implementation and maintenance thereof will be the responsibility of the following staff :

William White – Director

Colin White – Quality Assurance Manager

Dean Golding - Production Manager

Denis White – Goods Inward Manager

These staff shall take the lead in working with various company personnel with day to day operational responsibilities to ensure that all of the company’s quality assurance objectives are achieved.

Equal Opportunities

This company’s commitment to the principle of equal opportunities in employment has been a longstanding feature of its practices and procedures.

William White Meats will actively oppose any form of less favourable treatment accorded to employees, customers or job applicants on the grounds of race, creed, colour, ethnic or national origin, sex, marital status, age, disability or sexual preference. This policy is issued and enforced by the directors of William White Meats Ltd.

All recruitment literature, registration forms and advertisements shall be free of images and wording which reflect a negative view of minority groups and discriminative questions.

All staff employed by the company will be expected to maintain a good standard of behaviour. All forms of harassment, abusive attitude or language deemed to be offensive and directed at either colleagues or anyone employed at or visiting locations where staff are working will not be tolerated. Any staff or sub-contractors failing to comply with these guidelines will be subject to company disciplinary procedures and may be removed from the workplace immediately.

Any employee who feels that they have been a victim of any form of abuse or harassment should report the incident to William White.

All members of staff shall be issued with a copy of this statement when they commence employment and are expected to adhere to the principles contained within it, together with any information provided or displayed at the workplace.

This policy will be monitored by the management and all complaints received together with details of action taken and final outcome will be retained within documents at the company address.

This policy will be reviewed and updated by codes of practice or changes in legislation as and when required.

Health & Safety

This company is committed to ensuring the health, safety and welfare of its employees and also accepts responsibility for other persons who may be affected by its activities. The company is committed to providing sufficient resources, both financial and otherwise, to meet these responsibilities.

The successful implementation of this policy requires total commitment from all our employees. We need to be vigilant in order to ensure that high standards of health and safety are maintained at all times.

All staff have a part to play in maintaining these standards - by carrying out work safely and with due regard to the safety of others, by reporting anything believed to pose a health or safety risk and, most importantly, by taking a positive attitude towards health and safety, thus helping to create a strong safety culture at William White Meats.

Our Health & Safety Policy sets out the organisation and arrangements made to discharge our statutory health and safety responsibilities and will be reviewed and updated at least once a year or more frequently if circumstances require, i.e. changes in health and safety legislation or the working practices of the company.

Environmental

William White Meats is committed to protecting and enhancing local and global environments and ensuring that activities are carried out in a sustainable way. To meet this policy aim, we will endeavour to:

· Be aware of all new environmental legislation and regulations

· Comply with all environmental legislation and regulations

· Minimise energy use and its associated CO2 emissions

· Maximise the use of renewable energy sources where possible

· Minimise the generation of waste

· Maximise the re-use of materials and products

· Maximise the use of recycled materials and products

· Maximise the recycling of materials and products

· Minimise raw material consumption

· Maximise the use of material from renewable sources

· Minimise polluting emissions to air, land and water

· Minimise the use of polluting forms of transport

· Assess the environmental impacts of all working practices and product manufacture

· Assess the whole life environmental performance of all purchases

· Maximise the use of local products and local workforce

· Minimise the use of water

To further the aims of this policy we will:

· Provide adequate environmental training for all staff

· Assess the environmental performance of all suppliers

· Develop a set of environmental targets and action plans

· Review this environmental policy and its action plans periodically with a view to continuous improvement

· Work towards adopting the principles of an Environmental Management System
